With the knowledge and experience of our Chief Operations Officer Seyed Mehdi Shahrestani, Mahkar set on a quest to design manufacture and build a steel plant that would provide 1st class long section products to feed the booming property market in the Iran.
However since funds were scarce at the time, it was envisage to purchase equipment from plants that were being shut down in Europe and to utilise their equipment in building such a plant. Hence an ambitious project was undertaken whereby second hand or even scrap equipment were purchased from Germany and shipped to the Iran, consultants from India were drafted in, to design the overview and detailed design of this plant.
Mahkar used its' knowledge and experience to manufacture over 80% of the transportation, utilities and electrics for this plant. To this end Mahkar established its' own 'on site' steel fabrication workshop which was used for building the factory. This company now enjoys the production and manufacture of steel sections that are rolled from billets that start as 100 x 100 cm and 200 cm in length into sections that are in the shape of, Angles, Channels and I-Beam sections that are well over 60 meters in length.
Mahkar has always insisted on the latest technology and to this end has established a just in time fully computerised production line and hence has been able to manufacture products at its lowest production cost.
Mahkar's finished products are well sought after as it is able to produce products that are highly of compliant and in fact superior to European grade steel and is well known in the region for this.
Its latest ambition; in order to cut costs now that the plant is up and running Mahkar intends to install a continuous casting plant that will enable it to manufacture the raw material required for its' long section plant.
It has ample space within its' boundaries since it occupies approximately 33,000 Sqm and its' current production plant occupies only 10,000 Sqm, this makes it viable for it to establish the raw material production plant at this very site.
Hence, it is now in the process of finding and procuring a continuous casting plant together with a melt shop that can feed its' current production plant of approximately 200,000 tons per year.
